Service improvement

From activity to outcomes - effective and efficient services

Services are under growing pressure to provide evidence of the difference they make to service users. Increasingly, the emphasis is moving from providing evidence of activity to a focus on outcomes.

Nowhere is this more explicit than the new outcome framework for the NHS in England, the stated intention of which is to:

"Act as a catalyst for driving quality improvement and outcome measurement throughout the NHS by encouraging a change in culture and behaviour...."

The implications for services are clear. While the outcomes framework will apply to NHS and NHS funded services in England, there is no doubt that the principles which underlie it are already affecting services in all sectors throughout the UK.

I provide training and consultancy support to help services, commissioners and employers to use quality evaluation and outcome measurement for service and practice improvement development. Please click on the related pages below for further details and to find out how I can help.
